the sea of sand,

Elsewhere he remains,
immortalized in pen
by the poet Shelley
and the endeavors of men;
but not in that place,
where he is pitted
again and again,
against all his barbarity.

His only ally,
what gods and which words
he can salvage from
the tide and this earth.
